DEPARTMENT, AS WELL AS THE EDINBURG 2040 AND CANDID KEITH'S COLLABORATIVE, WE WERE ABLE TO TALK TO ALL THE COMMITTEE CHAIRS AND DISCUSS STRATEGIES, GOALS AND AND HOW WE WERE GOING TO WORK ON THOSE GOALS IN THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN THAT WE WERE WORKING ON. AND THEN IN THAT MONTH, AFTER ON APRIL 8TH, THE EDC, THE EDINBURG CHAMBER AND THE CITY OF EDINBURGH COLLABORATIVELY WORKED TOGETHER TO DO A NETWORKING AND Q&A EVENT WITH OUR CONSULTANTS FROM QUT AND GARY MITCHELL TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS WITH STAKEHOLDERS ABOUT THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN, IF THEY HAD ANY QUESTIONS.SO WE WE CONJUNCTIVELY DID THAT WITH THE EDINBURGH 2040 AND WE MET WITH THE COMMITTEE CHAIRS AS WELL. RIGHT NOW WE'RE WE'RE ACTUALLY VERY EXCITED BECAUSE IT IS THE END OF SUMMER OR IS THE BEGINNING OF SUMMER AND OUR STUDENTS ARE OUT, BUT OUR MAYOR'S YOUTH ADVISORY COUNCIL ARE ALSO OUT.
AND SO WE'RE GOING TO BE PRESENTING SOME STUDENTS RIGHT NOW, 27 STUDENTS WHO WILL BE SENIORS IN THE INCOMING PROGRAM.
12 OF THOSE SENIORS ARE GRADUATES WHO RECEIVED A STOLE TO COMMEMORATE THE COMPLETION OF THE PROGRAM.
SO WE'RE SUPER EXCITED BECAUSE THEY RAN FROM THAT YEAR AND THEY MENTORED OUR STUDENTS THIS YEAR. AND IN ADDITION, WE JUST WANT TO INVITE THE PUBLIC WE ARE GOING TO HAVE THIS MONTH OF JULY.

THE GOAL IS TO PROVIDE THE CITY'S YOUTH WITH AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE OPERATIONS OF A MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT, SUCH AS DRAINAGE, DEVELOPMENT AND PUBLIC SAFETY. OTHER AREAS OF INVOLVEMENT INCLUDED ADVOCATING FOR AN EXPANSION OF HIGHER EDUCATION AND OTHER CRUCIAL AREAS THAT MAY AFFECT THEIR FUTURE.
MY MY ACT PROVIDES EDINBURGH'S YOUNG GENERATION THE NECESSARY TOOLS, SUCH AS TRAINING AND TRUST, TO APPLY THEIR CREATIVITY AND SKILLS TO BETTER THEIR COMMUNITY BY ALLOWING THEM TO HAVE A VOICE IN THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT.
AND SO WE'RE RECOGNIZING THE 2023, THE FIRST COHORT AND THE SECOND COHORT OF THE MAYOR'S YOUTH ADVISORY COUNCIL.

WITHIN THE LAST SIX MONTHS, SHE WAS ABLE TO CREATE PARTNERSHIPS WITH LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICTS, ENGAGE STUDENTS WITH GOALS TO SPARK INTEREST IN PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION AND AS A POTENTIAL FOR FUTURE CAREER PATHS FOR SOME OF THESE STUDENTS. WE HAD A GROUP OF 22 STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN AN INTERNSHIP PROGRAM.
THEY WERE THEY WERE ABLE TO THEY WERE POSITIONED IN DIFFERENT DEPARTMENTS CITYWIDE.
MISS MYRA CONDUCTED ORIENTATION.
SHE FOLLOWED UP WITH DEPARTMENTS.
REQUESTED FEEDBACK AT THE END, MAKE SURE THAT THAT THE PROGRAM WAS EFFECTIVE AND THAT THEY PROVIDED THEIR FEEDBACK SO THAT WE CAN IMPROVE OUR PROGRAM AS WELL.

THE VOTERS VOTED IN 2018 FOR TWO FOUR YEAR TERMS. THAT WAS 67.86 VOTERS.
WHAT A SLAP IN THE FACE TO ALL THOSE VOTERS.
SO CAN'T WAIT FOR YOUR INFORMATION.
THE HIDALGO COUNTY HEAD START PROGRAM IS REQUIRED TO CREATE A COMMUNITY PROFILE IN THE HIDALGO COUNTY COMMUNITY SERVICE AGENCY IS REQUIRED TO ASSESS COMMUNITY CONDITIONS FOR CONTINUING FEDERAL ASSISTANCE.
A STATE OF TEXAS HAS VOTED TO USE STATE FUNDING TO REDUCE THE TAX BURDEN ON THE PEOPLE, AND HIDALGO COUNTY IS ONE OF THE LARGEST COUNTY IN TEXAS WITH SIGNIFICANT DEGREE OF POVERTY. MY POINT IS THAT A GREAT NUMBER OF PEOPLE AND AGENCIES UNDERSTAND THE CONDITIONS THAT EXIST IN EDINBURG, EXCEPT THEY DO NOT INCLUDE OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS. THIS COUNCIL HAS INCREASED STAFF SALARY BY 3% AND INCREASED WATER RATES BY 11%

IN THE FIRST YEAR. AT THE END OF THREE YEARS, THE INCREASE WILL BE SLIGHTLY OVER 67% AND THAT IS NOT ALL THAT WILL HAPPEN.THIS COUNCIL INTENDS TO SELL MILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN REVENUE BONDS.
SO AT THE END OF THIS PROCESS, THE PEOPLE OF EDINBURGH WILL HAVE SIGNIFICANTLY HIGHER WATER RATES AND BE MILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN DEBT.
BUT THAT IS NOT THE END OF THE STORY.
THERE IS NO WATER. I COULD GO INTO WHERE THERE IS NO WATER, BUT THE ANSWER WILL STILL BE THERE IS NO WATER, SO WHY IMPROVE THE SYSTEM? EVERY TIME I SAY THAT THERE IS NO WATER, SOME ENGINEER JUMPS UP AND SAYS WE CAN USE WELL WATER. OKAY, IF ANYTHING, HOW ABOUT THAT? WE START THIS SOLUTION OF DIGGING THE WELLS.
